Come See What I've Been Up To!

It has been a little while since I’ve shared an update, but Sew Magic Boutique has been busier—and more colorful—than ever!

If you’re new here, hi! I’m Jessie, the maker and children’s book author behind Sew Magic Boutique. I sew colorful fleece stuffed animals from my sewing space in Massachusetts. What began with a sewing machine and a love of creating has grown into a whole world of handmade friends, imaginative stories, and colorful adventures for children.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working on some especially exciting projects, and I can’t wait to show you what’s new!

I’ve Been Sewing New Friends

My sewing machine has been very busy bringing new Ocean Friends to life!

The collection includes friendly stingrays, axolotls, octopus, crabs, starfish, jellyfish, and more. Each friend is handmade by me and has its own colorful personality.

Some of these toys have also become characters in Lavender the Helpful Ray. There’s Lavender Ray, Cleo Crab, Daisy Dolphin, Olive Octopus, Stella Starfish, Axel Axolotl, and Juno Jellyfish.

I love seeing a piece of fleece slowly transform into a character that looks ready for an adventure!

Two Colorful Children’s Books

I recently published my second children’s book and gave my first book a fresh update!

The Rainbow Penguins is a colorful story about celebrating the special qualities that make each of us different. Our cheerful penguin family includes Ruby, Oliver, Benny, Lilly, Lucy, Mama and Papa.

Lavender the Helpful Ray follows a kind little stingray as she travels through the ocean helping her friends. The story encourages children to look for simple ways to help others and includes a kindness challenge at the end.

Writing children’s books has been an exciting addition to Sew Magic Boutique. As a kindergarten assistant, I get to see how children connect with stories and characters, and create their own world of imaginative play. Those experiences continue to inspire the stories I want to tell.

From Handmade Toys to Storybook Characters

The toys actually came first!

Many of the characters in my books began as stuffed animals that I had already been sewing. As I worked on their stories and personalities, those familiar fleece friends became characters with families, friendships, and adventures of their own.

Now children can read about the characters and have a matching handmade friend to bring along on their own adventures. Books and matching toys are available together, with a $2 savings when you add the book.

A New Online Home for Sew Magic Boutique

I also launched a new and improved Sew Magic Boutique website!

The updated shop makes it easier to explore Rainbow Penguins, Sleepy Dinos, T. Rexes, Ocean Friends, seasonal collections, children’s books, and book buddies. I wanted the website to feel like Sew Magic Boutique: colorful, cheerful, imaginative, and filled with friendly faces.

What’s Coming Next?

I’m excited to start sharing more of what happens behind the scenes at Sew Magic Boutique. That means new toy designs, works in progress, sewing projects, book updates, upcoming craft fairs, and plenty of colorful friends!
